Tryouts/practice will start on February 15, 2021 at 3:30 PM.
It is important that everyone complete their physicals and online registration prior to the first day of tryouts/practice.
If you have not already submitted your Physical, you should email it directly to our Assistant Director of Student Activities, Dan Reynolds:firstname.lastname@example.org
The online registration link is here: https://westpotomac-ar.rschooltoday.com/. This registration takes the place of the concussion education program, emergency care card, and weight room consent forms that we used in previous seasons.
Students who have already competed in a Winter Sport do not have to resubmit their forms. BUT those students need to make sure they have registered for cross-country. Please be sure to complete the online registration and designate your interest in cross-country prior to the first day of tryouts/practice.
For tryouts and practices everyone must adhere to our COVID precaution protocols. Briefly, these consist of the following:
There will be a check in procedure involving temperature checks and the completion of an online health questionnaire. This will be done each day before practice. Check in will take place at entrance 4A.
Students Must complete the online health screening questionnaire prior to their arrival at practice each day.
Students will not be allowed to participate in tryouts or practices if they have not completed the daily online health questionnaire or temperature check.
Students must have a mask on at all times.
Students should show up no earlier than 15 minutes prior to the start of practice.
Students must have at least 32 oz of water with them.
Students must be dressed and ready to tryout/practice; locker rooms will not be available
Students must leave at the end of tryouts/practice; no hanging around in groups and socializing.
Students must stay home if they are not feeling well. If they are experiencing even minor symptoms they must not come to tryouts/practice.
Students must stay home if a parent or other person they are living with is being tested for COVID-19.
TeamSnap—We will be using Team Snap this year. Some of you may be familiar with this online tool from other sports (such as track). We have found this to be useful in communicating with athletes and parents. Those athletes who have completed the registration form for cross-country will be receiving an invitation to the TeamSnap cross-country page. Invitations will be sent to athletes with the expectation that the athletes will add email and other pertinent contact information for a parent.
If you are participating in a winter sport that you think will, or might, overlap with the start of cross-country, let me know. We will work it out. Same thing if you anticipate participating in a spring sport that might overlap with the end of the cross-country season.
